The truth about inspection fees and home inspectors "I will be very frank with you about my home inspection fees. I am not the low bidder and I wouldn't want to be. If you are looking for a low price home inspection when you are your investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in a new home, you may want to rethink things a bit. My favorite analogy is comparing buying a home to getting married. Both are major life decisions, correct? So my question to price shoppers is this… would you have your wedding reception at McDonalds? I like an occasional double cheeseburger myself, but I...like you, wouldn't have my wedding reception there. In other words, would you really want to hire an inspector based on low cost when you and your family's future is at stake The sad truth is that there are home inspection companies out there that do charge low prices and that consistently book several inspections a day for weeks on end. These inspectors do a lot of inspections on a very tight schedule, and the chances for a major error or omission goes way up. Simply put, you- the customer- most likely won't get the time or attention to detail that you deserve when making such a major life decision.
